Letter: Stop fly-tipping with council collections
Friday 22nd April 2011, 8:28AM BST.
You featured an excellent article on the front page of the Star about fly-tipping. One fact that is never mentioned on this subject is the contribution to this problem made by the council.
If it were made easier for people to get rid of rubbish in a legal way, without charge, there would be no need to fly-tip.
If the council continues to close down waste collection centres and make charges for collection of items from domestic premises, fly-tipping will always be an option for the less socially aware of our residents.
It’s really simple: Council, collect anything free and there’s no fly-tipping.
