£10,000 raid on Telford Carphone Warehouse
Thursday 14th April 2011, 3:56PM BST.
Thieves cut a hole in the roof to get into a Telford phone shop before escaping with more than £10,000 worth of stock.
Raiders got into the stock room of the Carphone Warehouse on the Forge Retail Park between 7pm on Tuesday and 9am yesterday.
Items taken include mobile phones and accessories.
Police said at this stage it was not known exactly how much stock had been taken but estimated its value at more than £10,000.
Chris Ammonds, spokesman for Telford Police, said the thieves were well organised and detectives had a number of leads.
He said: “Officers are looking at CCTV footage from the surrounding area for any clues on who committed the crime.
“We are also working with neighbouring forces to see if any similar crimes have been committed elsewhere.
“Anyone with information should contact police in Telford on 0300 333 3000, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Emily Hamburger, spokeswoman for Carphone Warehouse, said: “We can confirm that a burglary did take place at our Forge Retail Park store and we are assisting the police with their inquiries.”
