Shropshire man ordered to forfeit £8,000

A Shropshire man convicted of drugs offences has had to forfeit nearly £8,000 seized by police when they searched his home.

Police successfully applied to Telford magistrates on Monday for £7,850 to be taken from Stephen Jonathan Richards, 37, of Hinwood Road, Westbury, near Shrewsbury, under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

He was sentenced in 2009 after admitting possessing cocaine and cannabis in hearings at Shrewsbury Crown Court and Shrewsbury Magistrates’ Court.
