Welshpool outdoor market to return

An outdoor market will return to Welshpool next week bringing a massive boost to trade, it was claimed today.

Welshpool Town Council plans to open the street market every Monday

Councillor Alan Crowe said it would be up and running from next Monday after plans had been in the pipeline for months.

Councillor Crowe said he believed the market, based along Broad Street, would help add to the town’s trade.

“It will provide a real boost for Welshpool and we are looking forward to seeing the town when it’s in place. The town hasn’t had a street market for a number of years, so it will be nice to see it return,” he said.

Mayor of Welshpool, Councillor Estelle Bleivas said she was extremely happy that the street market would be arriving back in the town.

“We haven’t had a street market in Welshpool for years and I’m just so thrilled that the town will now be having one again,” she said.

“Hopefully it well help boost the town’s trade and give it a bit more variety and it will also bring a bit of history back into the town.

“We’re going to start off with only a few stalls at first and just see how it goes. We do have a waiting list but want to take things slowly at first and build on it.”

oh no another idea by the council to get the town moving or should i say to a stand still traffic will be qewing all over the place as not knowing ware to park. Then they have to treck further to get there. just nip into tesco free parking and it be cheaper to buy from there and get a nice cup coffee :)

Personally I think having a Market again in welspool is a great idea.
The boost to the local economy far out weighs the inconvience to parking.
I get my fruit, veg, meat and gifts etc from my local Market and save so much money and get far tastier produce than at the supermarket.
I say we should support our local independant shops and markets.
