Letter: Only two syringes at Wellington Heath Centre?
Wednesday 6th April 2011, 6:00AM BST.
Letter: As a resident of Wellington I rang the Wellington Health Centre on February 8 to make an appointment to have my ears syringed.
I was told there was nothing available until February 17 at 11.30am.
I accepted that appointment.
To my shock and disappointment, on February 15 I received a phone call saying my appointment had to be cancelled.
I was told this was due to the fact there was no equipment available – namely the two syringes that they had got had been sent to the Princess Royal Hospital to be serviced.
I am quite aware that the maintenance is required but surely there should be one syringe available at all times.
I have since been in contact with the health centre on a regular basis to make an appointment only to be told the syringes have not been returned.
The last visit was on March 9.
What sort of organisation is this? Who’s to blame?

They don’t use syringes any more. I go to Wellington as well and I know they use a stupid little machine that dribbles water in and, in my case, doesn’t always work.
I’ve had the same problem with one of the machines being ‘in for servicing’. I suppose that’s progress – used to be so simple when they used a cheap, manual, effective method.
Last time the receptionists tried to put me off so I asked to see a doctor and got treated the next day.

Down to poor medical practice management is it not??. Heaven forbid that we dare criticize our over worked medical practices.

Try a dribble of olive oil into each ear every night – this helps dissolve the waxy deposits and keeps things shipshape.

Errmmmmm – thanks, but I’ve had this problem all my life and have tried not only that but everything else short of ear candles :)

Street vendors in Delhi will do it for a very reasonable price. But they use battery acid. And the air fare might set you back a bit.
