River Severn probe in search for Shrewsbury man
Monday 4th April 2011, 11:30AM BST.
A specialist team has carried out a search of the River Severn as fears were today growing for the safety of a Shrewsbury man who has not been seen for more than a week.
Darren Flynn, 30, was last seen by a friend on the morning of March 27.
The Severn Area Rescue Association carried out a search of the River Severn in the Sundorne area of the town over the weekend but nothing was found.
Relatives of Mr Flynn have been handing out posters around the town in a bid to find him, as police today issued a renewed appeal in a bid to trace him.
Today Maria Wilkinson, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said a man believed to be Mr Flynn had been caught on CCTV cameras at the Robson’s Stores in Sundorne Road at about 10.30am on the day he went missing.
Mr Flynn is believed to have briefly returned home to Whitchurch Road before leaving without any of his belongings on the Sunday morning.
Mr Flynn is about 5ft 11ins tall and slim. He has brown eyes and dark brown, wavy, shoulder-length hair.
Police said he may have been wearing a green beanie hat on the day he went missing and has a number of tattoos — one on his upper right arm and other “lizard-style” designs down both his legs.
