Telford speed camera set on fire

A speed camera in Telford has been set on fire by arsonists, traffic police today confirmed.

Officers say witnesses spotted a group of youths throwing burning grass at a camera in Station Road, Ketley, at 11.50pm on Saturday.

A fire engine from Wellington attended the scene.

Steve Wood, operations manager at West Mercia Safer Roads Partnership, said: “There was only superficial damage caused to the camera. The film in it was undamaged.”
