Oscar winners The King’s Speech and Black Swan helped Shrewsbury’s Old Market Hall cinema to a record-breaking month, with box office takings smashing the £40,000 mark.
Attendance during February reached 92 per cent, with box office takings for tickets alone hitting nearly £42,000.
Bosses said this was well above an average month for the cinema when takings were usually £20,000 to £30,000.
Jackson Cummings, marketing manager for theatre services with Shropshire Council, said: “The last 12 months were the most successful in the Old Market Hall’s history as a cinema.”
