Landowners ‘powerless’ against Shropshire and Wales pylon plans

Landowners across Shropshire and Mid Wales will be powerless to stop massive pylons from going up on their land, it was claimed today.

Farmer Jonathan Wilkinson, who has land at Dyffryn Farm in Meifod, said National Grid had compulsory purchase powers to put up pylons, and gain access to maintain them, anywhere.

But campaigners fighting to prevent a substation and either pylons or underground cables from being put up across the Mid Wales countryside say they will fight plans to the “bitter” end.

Mr Wilkinson said if pylons went through the village, his land would quite possibly be affected.

“I’m totally against these pylons and think they will have a detrimental affect on communities if they are built,” he said.

“But if they end up coming through Meifod, they may possibly want to use some of my land to build them on and I will have no other choice but to comply.

“National Grid have compulsory purchase powers.”

You can cancel compulsory purchase orders via the european courts.
In fact if you have the money and the time to delve into it you will find that there is no such thing as a compulsory order.
However, out of court settlements for unspecified amounts usually do the trick.

We would welcome all who realise how these plans will effect them to visit our sites and show their support and we would also welcome all those who have not yet realised that even those not in the route corridors will be both directly and indirectly effected in a detrimental manner
