Ex-Shrewsbury School pupil’s girlfriend gaffe is internet hit
Wednesday 30th March 2011, 2:12PM BST.
When former Shrewsbury School student Harry Fildes replied to an e-mail from one of his friends about a “hot” former girlfriend it was meant to be for his mate’s eyes only.
But the 25-year-old property consultant’s exchange with his friend Sebastian Marsh has become an unlikely internet hit after it ended up going across the globe.
Mr Fildes, captain of the West London-based Old Salopian Football Club for old boys of Shrewsbury School, and Mr Marsh, 24, wrote about “looker” Jenni Palmer, 24, using their work e-mails.
But Mr Fildes accidentally copied his ex-girlfriend, who is also his housemate, in on one of the messages which included unflattering comments about her.
Mr Marsh sent the whole conversation to his friends and now the exchange has been made public and become a hit on the web after they forwarded it on to their mates.
The e-mail conversation began last week after Mr Marsh, who works for an insurance broker in the capital, bumped into Mr Fildes’s ex-girlfriend in the pub.
He e-mailed Mr Fildes to ask he would have “any sort of problem” with him pursuing the “hot” blonde, adding “not my style to step on a mates [sic] toes for the sake of a girl!”
Mr Fildes replied telling Mr Marsh to have ” crack” at the girl, but warned: “I don’t dislike many people but she is one. She massively messed me around.”
Mr Fildes accidentally copied his ex-girlfriend in on the e-mail which ended with him telling Mr Marsh: “Good luck – you’ll need it!”
Mr Fildes still lives with his former girlfriend in a shared house in Fulham, London, and after realising the mistake told Mr Marsh who forwarded it to a few friends.
Mr Fildes was unavailable for comment.
