Charge plan as Ludlow council takes on town toilets
Tuesday 29th March 2011, 3:22PM BST.
People will have to pay to use public toilets in Ludlow as part of a deal to save them from closure.
Ludlow Town Council unanimously agreed to take over the running of toilets on the Smithfield and Castle Street car parks at a private meeting last night.
The move came just days before the toilets were due to be closed as part of Shropshire Council cost-cutting measures.
Now town council chiefs are looking at quotes to install door closers and coin boxes. A 20p charge may be levelled.

The whole toilet closure thing was probably set up as an excuse to scam more money out of us. Just imagine your cut short now and skint(Oh dear). Personally it should be up to tourist board of ludlow to pay the upkeep if they want to keep attreacting tourists(I know people would be put off visiting if there aren’t even the basic amenities).

In the spirit of the Big Society, why can’t Ludlow’s civic leaders invite a few youngsters to do the decent thing, get them to buy their own buckets and bring back the old ‘Garçon de Pisse’ idea.
