Shropshire weather turns as summer hits
Saturday 26th March 2011, 11:29AM GMT.
The start of British Summer Time takes place tonight with people across the country losing an hour of sleep.
But as the clocks spring forward Shropshire’s weather has turned back with plummeting temperatures and a blanket of early morning mist and fog covering the county.
After a week of sunshine and temperatures rising into the mid teens it was a rude awakening for many this morning with thermometers registering 0C (32F).
Water birds shivered on their nests on lakes and rivers in Shropshire and mid Wales and gardeners covered tender shoots in their gardens and greenhouses.
Forecasters say the temperatures will rise only slowly through next week with mist and cloud replacing recent sunshine.
Despite the weather, 1am tomorrow will mark the official start of British Summer Time as clocks move forward to 2am.
