Man dies after Mid Wales car crash

A man died after his vehicle was involved in a collision with a tree in Mid Wales.

The driver was cut out of his vehicle by fire crews following the incident which happened on the A489 at Penstrowed, between Newtown and Caersws just after 9am yesterday.

Despite efforts from paramedics, the motorist died at the scene, Dyfed Powys Police said today.

Antony Topazio, Dyfed Powys Police spokesman, said no other vehicles were involved in the collision and the man was in the vehicle alone.

He said: “Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm that a male driver has died following a collision on the A489 on the Penstrowed Corner, near Newtown.

“The incident occurred at approximately 9am when the driver’s vehicle collided with a tree and no other vehicles were involved.

“The deceased died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics who worked at the scene.
