Revitalised business chamber vows to promote Oswestry
Thursday 17th March 2011, 3:50PM GMT.
Oswestry’s newly-revitalised Chamber of Commerce will do all it can to promote the town and boost its economy, members have said.
About 40 people packed a room at the Wynnstay Hotel last night as the group was relaunched.
And the chamber said it wanted to work with other organisations towards developing a town strategy for the coming decade.
In a joint statement members of a steering committee said: “We want to establish strong relationships with key partners in the town and collaborate with them for the benefit of Oswestry.
“All our efforts will focus on one simply goal, to maximise all opportunities to promote and advance Oswestry and the surrounding districts at every level.”
One of the members, Mr Martin Anderson, said it was vital that Oswestry had a strong chamber.
“We are living in a very volatile world, globally and locally. From fuel prices to the supermarket decision in Oswestry, they will all affect the town and its businesses,” he said.
Several people urged the reformed chamber to help with training and Mr John Waine, on the steering group, said there were plans to facilitate training.
The next chamber meeting is on April 6. The chamber agreed to hold an official annual meeting in the Wyn-nstay Hotel on April 6, 7pm.
