Shrewsbury store to create 150 jobs
Thursday 10th March 2011, 3:20PM GMT.
A new national home, leisure and garden store will open in Shrewsbury tomorrow, creating 150 jobs.
The Range has been created at the former MFI and Allied Carpets sites which closed over two years ago.
Bosses today said they were expecting a large number of customers to attend the new store at the Sundorne Retail Park in Arlington Way.
The multi-millionaire owner of the chain, Chris Dawson, will be arriving in the store’s car park by helicopter at 8am.
The store will open at 9am and Miss Galaxy Wales Jamie-Lee Williams, 24, of Llanymynech, is also expected to attend the opening ceremony.
Mr Dawson said he was delighted to be opening a store in Shrewsbury and said up to 10 more jobs could be created in the coming months.
He said: “We have created about 150 jobs and we are hoping to create several more positions on top of that.”

Good to see The Range and the recently opened Buyology store bringing jobs to the north side of town. Let’s hope they can make a go of it in these difficult times.
