Parade plan for return of Shropshire’s Royal Irish Regiment
Tuesday 8th March 2011, 2:39PM GMT.
A parade is to be held to welcome Shropshire-based soldiers back from Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Defence has not confirmed where the parade for Royal Irish Regiment personnel will be held, but said it would take place towards the end of May and will feature events in Shropshire and Northern Ireland.
Currently members of the regiment’s 1st Battalion, based at Tern Hill, near Market Drayton, are on operations in Afghanistan and nearing the end of their tour.

The Home Coming Parade is for our soldiers to know that we are Proud of them and all that they achieved – it is also a time for the nation to show their support for what they and their families have endured during their time away – it also shows the families of lost and injured troops that we are also remembering them. No amount of ‘Fuss’ would be enough.
