Bridgnorth owner reunited with his hearing dog
Thursday 3rd March 2011, 2:28PM GMT.
The owner of a hearing dog which was inside a vehicle stolen from a Shropshire petrol station has been reunited with his beloved pet.
Peter Ward, who is partially deaf, said he was lost without his border collie dog, Soot, who was stolen on February 22.
Soot, who was treated to a large bag of bones on her return yesterday evening, was inside Mr Ward’s Land Rover Discovery which was taken from Tesco’s Hermitage Service Station in Low Town, Bridgnorth.
Mr Ward, 52, from Chelmarsh, near Bridgnorth, said he felt numb after the theft but was overcome with emotion when they were finally reunited.
Soot was found by a dog warden in Dudley who recognised her when attending a routine call in Sedgley to a report of a stray dog.
“It’s difficult to put into words how I felt when Soot was gone,” said Mr Ward.
“I was completely numb and it felt like the world had stopped. But now I have my life back
“There were two fantastic organisations helping with the search, DogLost and Canine Search.”
Soot allows Mr Ward to lead a normal life telling him when the phone rings, if someone is at the door and alerting him to traffic. The pair had not been apart for the past eight years.
