Bishop’s Castle to take over running of town toilets
Thursday 3rd March 2011, 6:07PM GMT.
Bishop’s Castle Town Council has agreed to take on the running of the town’s public toilets from Shropshire Council.
Members voted to take on the facilities in the town’s auction yard following a full council meeting on Tuesday. The decision has been postponed twice in the past.
It comes after Shropshire Council said it would close all toilets it owned by April 1 as a cost-cutting measure.
Councillor Mary Holton said they hoped to complete the handover in time for the new financial year.

Good news the toilets are being retained, most people would pay 20p or so to use them provided they are maintained in a clean condition.
At the end of the day people need somewhere to spend a penny.

Is this the ‘Big Society’ idea we keep hearing so much about ?
I’d like to think it is and then whenever historians mention it, they’ll refer to it’s first (and possibly last) success having been the safe-keeping of BC’s public khazis.
