Rihanna added to V Festival line-up

Pop princess Rihanna was today added to the line up for the 16th annual V Festival, which will take place at Weston Park, on the Shropshire border.

The r’n’b singer will line up with headliners Eminem and Arctic Monkeys at the summer event. Dizzee Rascal and Primal Scream will top the bill on the second stage.

The event will takes place on August 20 and 21 in Weston Park and at Chelmsford, with acts appearing at both locations.

Other star names appearing at the event will include Plan B, Kaiser Chiefs, The Script, Tinie Tempah, Pendulum, Bruno Mars, Ellie Goulding and Jessie J.

The line-up will also feature Duran Duran, Razorlight, Chase and Status, Manic Street Preachers, Scouting For Girls, N-Dubz, Hurts, The Wombats and The Saturdays.

More bands will be announced in coming days.

For the first time ever, there will also be a comedy tent.

Danny O’Donoghue from The Script said: “V Festival was our first ever UK show three years ago. It was a baptism of fire but we survived it.

“We love to play V; it’s a real party for both festival goers and bands. We can’t wait for it.”

Other new additions for this year’s festival will include a new luxury camping zone, where fans who can’t bear staying in tents will be able to lodge in pop-up hotel rooms.

Tickets for V Festival go on sale on Friday (4 March) at 9am.
