A5 driver stuck under lorry

A driver had a lucky escape after his car ended up underneath a lorry in a smash on a main road near the Shropshire border today.

The A5 between Gailey Island and Ivetsey Bank, near Weston-under-Lizard, was closed at 5am following the crash by White Pump Farm, near Wheaton Aston.

The man was rescued from his BMW which was stuck underneath the Scania lorry. He was taken to Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital with a shoulder injury. The road was reopened at about 8.20am.
