Oswestry Ironworks venue closed in licence mix-up
Tuesday 22nd February 2011, 11:29AM GMT.
Oswestry’s performance venue the Ironworks has had to close its doors for two weeks due to a mix-up over its licence.
Bosses at the Church Street venue failed to renew its licence when the original operators went into liquidation. They have claimed it was an “oversight” and that the venue will reopen on March 5.
Carol Foster, of Shropshire Council, said the council had been informed the licence holder went into liquidation in September 2010.
She said: “In these circumstances a licence automatically lapses.”
Ros Gore, Ironworks spokeswoman, said: “We have just got a licensing problem to sort out and it takes two weeks.”
