Firemen in Much Wenlock horse rescue

Tuesday 22nd February 2011, 11:29AM GMT.

A shire horse had to be rescued by firefighters after collapsing in stables near Much Wenlock.

Crews from Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth worked alongside a farmer to lift the animal back to its feet at 8.50am today at the stables in Acton Round.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Straps and the farmer’s machinery were used during the incident to lift the horse.

“As far as we know it has made a full recovery since we were there and the RSPCA did not need to be called out to assist us.”
