MP Kawczynski in telephone bust-up with hospitals chairman

Shrewsbury MP Daniel Kawczynski today claimed he had a heated telephone bust-up with the chairman of the Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Hospital Trust, Dr John Davies.
Mr Kawczynski said he was “badgered and berated” in a 90-minute conversation with the trust chairman.
The Shrewsbury MP claimed Dr Davies had attempted to “bash him into submission” over his opposition to plans to move some services to Telford.
Dr Davies is on holiday and was not able to respond to the MP’s claims today.
Mr Kawczynski said: “This is being billed as a genuine consultation process and I do not appreciate being put under pressure to back down.
“Trying to badger and berate the local MP on a Saturday night, when I’m trying to put my daughter to bed is not part of the process.
“I am not at the point where I am calling for Mr Davies’s resignation but I am seriously questioning his conduct. We spoke for an hour-and-a-half and he was lambasting me for taking a stance on plans to reconfigure the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. He was putting pressure on me to back down. He was trying to bash me into submission.
“I am doing my job as the local MP and I have serious concerns whether his conduct is appropriate. I will be writing to the chief executive of the trust to rein in the chairman.”
A spokesman for The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust said: “Unfortunately Dr Davies is currently on annual leave and unable to respond to these claims.”

His leader has made the decision to cut the NHS budgets so Dr Davies is doing what is requested but Dan is fighting against it to keep the locals on his side perhaps he should berate Dave instead.
