Traders Twitter to boost Oswestry chamber

Traders have turned to Twitter to help them promote Oswestry Chamber of Commerce’s positive new outlook for the future.
The chamber was hit by a crisis after its chairman, secretary, treasurer and president all resigned in quick succession.
But this month the town’s chamber formed an interim management committee and its members say the future of the group is now looking “positive”.
Committee members have a number of ideas for the chamber and yesterday a new account – @OswestryChamber – was set up on the social networking site to help promote the group.
It is hoped the account will also connect businesses in the area and highlight the chamber’s newly updated website.
Gemma Syrett-Judd, speaking on behalf of the chamber, said: “I think it is great to have a Twitter site. It is an opportunity for businesses to see what is being done.
“We are trying to leave all past issues behind and move forward.
“The future is looking very positive at the moment and there is a lot of enthusiasm in the group. This is a fresh beginning and that is so important. It is all onwards and upwards.”
John Waine, director of The Best Of Oswestry, has helped set up the social network account.
