A Shropshire museum trust has scooped two awards recognising its “excellent work” across the region.
The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust was one of a number of winners in the Renaissance West Midlands Best of the West Awards 2011.
This year’s awards, which took place entirely online, were aimed at museum work undertaken between January 1 and December 31, 2010.
Harold Grice, who is a museum volunteer, was a joint winner of the Outstanding Volunteer Award, which recognises an individual and their contribution to their organisation or the wider sector.
Anna Brennand, deputy chief executive of the museum trust, said Mr Grice had been a supporter of the museum for more than 25 years.
His main area of expertise is in engineering and he both restores and operates one of the Trevithick engines at Blists Hill Victorian Town as well as acting as a guide.
The trust’s partnership with Telford firm Capgemini won it the Outstanding Supporters Award, which recognises excellence in any project organised by volunteers, friends, trustees or other supporters’ group.
