Shropshire crime writer Priscilla Masters will be celebrating her latest book at a launch in Shrewsbury next month.

Frozen Charlotte is the third in her series about a Shropshire-based coroner and opens at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital where the writer still works as a specialist respiratory nurse.

Priscilla, who lives on the Shropshire border near Eccleshall, said she was very excited about the February 10 launch at Waterstones.

“This will be my 20th book but each one is as exciting as the last.”

The book had taken her less than a year to write as part of a book deal but she had felt a great sense of satisfaction when she had finished it. “It’s wonderful to feel a project like this has come to its conclusion and you are then ready to share it with readers,” said Priscilla.

She has also become a grandmother recently and is awaiting the arrival of her second grandchild in the next few weeks.

“The book opens at the accident and emergency department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital where a woman is sitting in a corner appearing to cuddle a baby in a pink blanket and calling the baby Poppy. She goes unnoticed at first but then staff realise it is a mummified baby boy so it is grisly but a gripping story.

“I’m now looking forward to seeing what the reaction will be at the launch,” she added.

Priscilla’s seven book series based on Detective Inspector Joanne Piercey are a big hit with fans.
