Two extra teams were being dispatched from today to deal with potholes on roads across Telford & Wrekin.
The council already has four teams of workers repairing potholes in the borough.
But it said it was boosting manpower after weeks of treacherous weather and constant gritting took its toll on roads.
And Councillor Adrian Lawrence, council cabinet member for the environment, said they would also look at whether to launch another pothole-busting campaign once the weather improved.
He said: “We already have four teams out repairing potholes in the borough and from today we will have another two teams out dealing with potholes on the borough’s roads.
“Given the weather we have had, we will keep this under close review and when the weather is more settled we will look at another full scale pothole busting campaign.
“We continue to repair dangerous potholes by the end of the next working day and all other potholes will be assessed and prioritised.
“Potholes can be reported by calling (01952) 384000 or online at www.telford.gov.uk/pothole busters.”
The council considers a pothole to be dangerous when it reaches a depth of 40mm or more.

Spin Spin Spin Spin.
The Council is reducing the money for pot holes by 30%! Also, filling pot holes is not the answer. Its a short term fix.

i totally agree with heather its one big spin…..i have hit a pothole and ever since there has been a knocking noise from the front end….. how can they blame it on the weather conditions i think the roads are just rubbish

It may be worth getting your car checked Steve – I bounced into an unseen pothole a couple of weeks ago and my car was not handling properly, further investigation found that part of the rear axle was damaged and it cost me nearly £200 to repair (and I very much doubt that I’m the only one who has had to spend additional money on getting my car repaired because of poor road conditions)

are they going to come to mewport and fix the boughey road as it was only done last august and there’s more holes now than before, would it not be better in the long run to fix the roads properly not just slap dash fixes?

I agree, also live in Newport and travel the long way round purposely to avoid boughey road, they patched it and its just as bad now!
False economy these temporary fixes
Report abuse
i travelled along boughey road earlier today they’ve marked some potholes to fix but left others, maybe to get bigger then they’ll fix them
false economy

If you read the caption on the picture (and also read the shropshire star this evening),you would see that the photograph was taken whilst repairs we’re being carried out in Boughey Road, Newport!

i agree the roads in telford are a disgrace and dangerous to vehicles, who knows what these bone jaring shocks are doing to our cars the council are quick enough to take our council tax and waste it on numerous chic canes pedestrion sancturies speed bumps etc-what happend to “road fund licence” monies anyway
Report abuse
Road Fund Licence or correct name Vehicle Excise Duty, is no longer hypothecated for road improvements, that was removed by the government in 1937 when they switched the Duty to Central Government Funds and the duty no longer funds new roads or maintenance directly.
