About 13,000 tattoo fans from around the world flocked to Shropshire over the weekend for an international body art festival. Tattoo Freeze 2011 was held at the Telford International Centre.

It was expanded to two days after attracting sell-out crowds to its inaugural event last year.

Tattoo guru Louis Molloy, who did David Beckham’s “guardian angel” design, was one of the star attractions at the event on Saturday and yesterday.

Molloy, who also stars in the London Ink television programme, did five designs in front of the packed crowd.

The family-orientated entertainment schedule included ice sculptures, street dance performances and a Henna tattoo stand.

Visitors were also invited to photograph their own skin art and pin their pictures on a giant “tattoo wall”.

Organisers were overwhelmed by the turnout at the 2010 event and ran out of wristbands within the first two hours.

So they took the decision to hire an extra 3,500 sq m of exhibition space for the 2011 event.

Doors were open from 11am to 11pm on Saturday and 10am to 7pm yesterday.

The Tattoo Freeze is organised by a group of tattoo magazines, including Skin Deep, Skin Shots International, Tattoo Master and Tattoo Jam.
