Seven hurt in Weston-Under-Lizard car crash

A man with “very serious” head injuries was among seven people taken to hospital following a two-car crash.
The accident happened on the A41, on the slip road to Weston-under-Lizard, at Weston Heath at 8.15pm yesterday.
Fire crews from Newport and Telford went to the scene and had to cut two of the injured from the wreckage.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said: “One of the cars had five men in it from Eastern Europe. This led to some difficulties due to the language barriers.

“One of the men had suffered a potentially very serious head injury. He was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.
“A second man had a serious break to his leg and was taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton.
“A third man had a broken arm and possible internal injuries while a fourth had an arm injury. Both were taken to the Princess Royal.
“A fifth man had a minor leg injury and was discharged at the scene.”
Mr MacGregor said a family of three were in the other car. The mother and father suffered minor injuries but their daughter complained of back pain and so was immobilised on a spinal board and taken to the Princess Royal.
A fire service spokesman said: “Three adults were released prior to the arrival of fire service personnel.
“Two adult males were freed by fire service personnel using cutting equipment.”
