1,500 Telford homes hit by power cut
Thursday 6th January 2011, 1:00PM GMT.
More than 1,500 homes across Telford were left in the dark after a power cut which saw some residents lose mains supply for more than 14 hours.
A total of 1,579 residents in Hortonwood, Hadley and other areas were hit at 7.50pm yesterday.
Rebecca Mara for Central Networks said there was a problem with an underground cable. Most customers had power back by 10.20pm and a generator was brought in for the remaining 118.
Supply was restored at 11.10am today.

We had a power cut in Stirchley Village at 10.30 in the evening of Wednesday 22nd December affecting nearly 40 properties until mid-afternoon the next day, again due to an underground cable fault.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for their hard work in freezing conditions to restore the supply, and for the friendly and courteous way in which we were kept informed of progress.
A very happy New Year to all concerned!!
