Tuesday 21st December 2010, 12:01PM GMT.
Illegal drugs worth £80,000 were seized after a vehicle was stopped on Shropshire’s A5.
Police today said the operation led to the discovery of a cannabis factory in Powys.
The Land Rover Discovery, travelling towards Telford, was stopped between Preston island at Shrewsbury and Junction 7 of the M54 at Wellington.
Officers from the force operations support team, based at Shrewsbury, discovered 80 fully-matured cannabis plants inside the vehicle as well as a weapon.
The discovery was made at 1.05am on Friday.
Further investigations led officers to swoop on an address in Llanyre in Llandrindod Wells, where they discovered a large-scale cannabis factory. It is understood about £100,000 worth of cannabis was found there.
Chris Ammonds, spokesman for Telford police, said: “Four men were arrested shortly after 1am on Friday near to Junction 7 after a vehicle was stopped.
“The men were brought to Malinsgate Police Station for questioning and have been bailed pending further inquiries.
“The arrests were made by officers of the force operations support team, who were assisted by other officers from Telford and Shrewsbury.”
Nobody from Dyfed Powys Police was available to comment on the raid at Llanyre.
