Praise be! Cound hits the small screen on BBC1
Monday 20th December 2010, 10:53AM GMT.
A special festive edition of Songs of Praise filmed in Shropshire was aired on television last night.
People turned out in force in Edwardian clothing to film the Christmas edition of the hit BBC1 programme at a village church near Shrewsbury last month – and yesterday they got to see how it looked.
Presenter Pam Rhodes and nearly 200 people packed into St Peter’s Church in Cound for an Edwardian-themed Christmas concert.
BBC producer Karen Hannah said they could not have found a more beautiful place to film and they had been touched by the generosity of Shropshire people.
It was the first time the show had put on an Edwardian theme.
Children’s choirs from schools around the county took part in the show, as well as people living nearby.
