Woman killed in two-car crash

A woman was killed and two others were taken to hospital in a two-car smash in Shropshire.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the B4385 at Brockton shortly before 3.15pm yesterday.

Constable Grant Court, from Shrewsbury Police Station, who is investigating the crash, said the vehicles involved were a red Ford Fiesta and a silver Ford Focus.

“A front seat passenger in the Ford Fiesta, a female believed to be in her late teens, was certified dead at the scene,” he said.

“This was a tragic incident in which one person lost her life and I would urge anyone to come forward who may have seen it.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0300 333 3000.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two rapid response vehicles, an incident support officer and an ambulance crew. The Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford also attended.

Suzie Fothergill, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Two cars had collided. There were two women in one of the cars; one was sadly confirmed dead at the scene; the other, who is in her 20s, had minor injuries and was taken in the rapid response vehicle to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

“A woman in her thirties from the second car involved, had a pelvic injury and was taken by ambulance to the same hospital.”
