Singer Molly Griffiths in plea for support

A talented Oswestry teenager is hoping the public will help her achieve her deam of winning a nationwide singing contest.

Molly Griffiths, 17, is in the final stages of the Open Mic UK competition and desperately needs the public to vote for her through text messages to keep her in the contest.

The Walford and North Shropshire College student had already won through the regional finals at Liverpool last month and performed at the area finals in Manchester on Sunday.

Molly said: “I didn’t get through on Sunday, there was 23 of us and four got through, but I have the chance to go through on a wildcard.

“I have to get as many votes as I can you just have to text wildcard313 to 84222 , so the more voters the better.

“I’m second at the moment and it lasts for two weeks.”

Open Mic UK is one of the biggest music competitions in the UK for singers and solo artists.

If enough people vote for Molly she will be heading for the O2 Arena in London for the National Grand Final of the competition. Along with her love of singing, Molly is also a keen fundraiser.

She has taken part in numerous concerts to raise money for different charities including the Sophie Edwards Trust Fund.

She is also planning to release a CD soon in an attempt to raise money for Hope House Children’s Hospice at Morda, near Oswestry.
