Dance fever as bar opens doors

Hundreds of revellers arrived to celebrate the opening of a new theme bar in Shrewsbury’s town centre.

Fever opened its doors for the first time last night to bring residents tunes from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

The bar, which has created about 30 jobs in the town, has opened up on the site of the former Lloyds which has been shut for several months.

It has a capacity of 400 and staff said the venue was full all night. Customers were treated to champagne and entertainment in the new venue.

The building has been completely refurbished and redesigned in a £500,000 project with glitter balls, sparkling paint on the walls and a DJ booth in the shape of a Rubik’s cube.

Staff said they received a lot of positive comments from customers who commented on the decor and said they “really enjoyed the night”.

Director Jimmy Elias said: “The first night at Fever was fantastic and was really well received by the people of Shrewsbury.

“The atmosphere was electric with revellers dancing also to the sounds of the 70s, 80s and 90s from 9pm to 3am.”

The club is the 11th of a chain of the themed venues across the UK.

The club will now be open four nights a week — Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9pm until 3am.
