All-clear for brave Sophie Foxley
Friday 10th December 2010, 11:30AM GMT.
A Shropshire girl who touched the nation’s hearts as she fought leukaemia has been given the best present ever after being given the all- clear by doctors.
Sophie Foxley, of Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury, became an inspiration for people across the globe after she began writing an online blog about her experiences of living with the disease in 2006 – when she was just eight years old.
Despite losing her hair to chemotherapy and at times having to use a wheelchair, Sophie wrote an account of her day each night and posted it on her site. She told how she was first diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in June 2006.
Sophie, now 12, who lives with her parents Phil and Jane, detailed her hospital appointments.
Her older brother Tom came up with the idea for the blog to help friends and family keep up to date with Sophie’s news.
The family today said they were delighted that Sophie had been given the all-clear but said they were still wary of the disease.

Excellent ‘feel-good’ story from the Star here.
It is truly excellent news for Sophie and for her family, and surely the best Christmas present anyone could ask for. Well done Sophie and good luck.

Sophie, this is brilliant! I prayed for you ever since I started reading your blog, and I was over the moon when I read this story. You are an inspiration to young people around you. You are so brave and courageous. I actually write stories as a hobby and you are actually the inspiration for the main character who is also called Sophie. Well done you and merry christmas. If anyone deserves a wonderful christmas then you do. God bless you Sophie.
