Man admits NHS claims fraud

A 44-year-old man today admitted defrauding Shropshire Primary Care Trust and the Powys Local Health Board out of thousands of pounds.

Robert Clowes, appeared in Shrewsbury Crown Court today and admitted four charges of fraud between Jan 15, 2007, and April 2, 2009 by making a false representation to the NHS namely he was entitled to payments in relation to the provision of services to the value of £23,072.67.

Clowes, of Kingsway Crewe, also admitted two further charges of false representation to the NHS namely an admission to Shropshire Primary Care Trusts Ophthalmic List on June 24, 2008, and admission to Powys Local Health Boards Ophthalmic List between January 31, 2009 and February 19, 2009.
