Jobs hope if Bayston Hill pub reopens

An “eyesore” Shropshire village pub which has been shut for well over a year could soon reopen – with hopes it could create new jobs.
The Fox Inn, Bayston Hill, near Shrewsbury, is currently boarded up.
But plans have been submitted to Shropshire Council to carry out internal alterations, including the opening up and enhan-cing of the layout with improvements to include a new dining area and extension for pool tables. The pub, on the main A49 road, will also benefit from a new catering kitchen.
Councillor Ted Clarke, Shropshire Council ward member for Bayston Hill, today said he hoped the scheme would create jobs.
He added: “It’s an eyesore and I’ve had a number of people comment on it. The sooner it’s tidied up the better really. It would be good if it also becomes an eaterie.”
A design and access st-atement from agents Silk Plant & Associates, says the proposed alterations are considered not to have an adverse impact on neighbouring properties.
