Delight over leases at Shrewsbury food centre
Friday 3rd December 2010, 6:59PM GMT.
Bosses at Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre are celebrating “bringing the place to life” by renting out nearly all of the units in the multi-million pound venture.
The £7 million centre, in Battlefield Enterprise Park, Shrewsbury, was officially opened in June to help put regional food and drink producers on the culinary map.
A total of seven out of 12 units have now been occupied with another two local producers due to move in after Christmas.
Offers have been received by centre managers, Heart of England Fine Foods (HEFF), on a further two units which are subject to contracts with Shropshire Council – leaving only one large unit vacant.
Laura Bradbeer, HEFF spokeswoman, said: “We are delighted with the take up of food production units at the centre, we have some fantastic producers here now who are really bringing the place to life.
“HEFF only moved into the centre at the beginning of March so it is a great achievement to have only one unit vacant at the end of the year.”
The centre is the first of its kind in the West Midlands.

So “nearly all” is currently 7 out of 12? And IF two others do actually move in, then it will be 75% occupied.
