Couple flee Edgeley house fire

An elderly couple had a lucky escape today when fire took hold of their home.
They escaped their house at Edgeley, near Whitchurch, after the blaze broke out just after 3.20am. It was discovered when the man went to the kitchen in the night.
Mike Beach, watch manager at Whitchurch fire station, said: “We think it was caused by a problem with some electrical wiring.”
Firefighters also had to tackle a fire at a flat in Woore Road, Pipe Gate, near Market Drayton yesterday afternoon. No-one was hurt.
