Refined dining plan for River Severn boat Sabrina
Thursday 25th November 2010, 6:00PM GMT.
Owners of the Sabrina river boat in Shrewsbury today said the vessel would be offering “refined dining and entertainment” if plans are approved to extend opening hours and operate throughout the year.
Co-owner Dilwyn Jones said it was imperative people understood they were aiming to develop the attraction for the benefit of Shrewsbury’s local residents and visitors to the town.
He said they would provide cultured evening cruises mainly for private bookings with further scope to offer educational cruises for school pupils.
He said: “The party ‘night club’ boat image is completely the wrong message. With one of the county’s top chefs, an extensive wine and cocktail menu and a dedicated table service team, the newly refurbished Sabrina offers clients a night of refined dining and entertainment whilst enjoying Shrewsbury’s finest natural asset, the River Severn.
“The majority of our evening cruises are private, chartered events consisting of a food and entertainment package.”
He said the Sabrina had applied for an extension in its alcohol licence so that, at the discretion of the licensee, chartered guests could extend their evening at the quayside. The plans will be heard by Shropshire Council tomorrow.
Mr Jones added: “Our key objective is to balance the development of the boat without disrupting riverside residents and, at the same time, ensure that this beautiful, unspoilt stretch of river remains a haven for wildlife and a marvellous asset to the town.”

So will the boat be fitted with the ‘drunk-guidance-lights’ suggested for the footpaths within 600 yards of the river?
