Wednesday 24th November 2010, 11:41AM GMT.
The driver of a lorry involved in a fatal road crash in north Shropshire has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The 47-year-old was taken into custody after the collision involving the lorry and two cars on the A41 at Higher Heath, near Whitchurch, at about 7.45am yesterday.
He was subsequently given conditional police bail pending further inquiries.
One of the car drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been formally identified, but is believed to be a man in his 50s from Staffordshire.
Police were today continuing to investigate how the collision happened and renewed appeals for witnesses.
Richard Ewels, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: “There was a considerable amount of traffic on this busy stretch of road at the time.
“We are appealing to anyone who saw the collision or who spotted any of the vehicles in the moments leading up to it.”
