Lembit becomes limp

Telly Talk: Lembit is more Limpit these days. What happened to fun-loving Lemmy because he has gone all quiet on us.

While I thought Nigel Havers walking was the best news for the former MP, it seems it could have been the worst because without their constant bickering he has simply faded into the background – and that’s not easy in black and white stripes in the middle of a dense green jungle. (I mean, they’re hardly camouflage kit, are they?)

I think he hardly uttered more than two words last night and those words were “fair enough” after he was told he was not the public’s choice for the latest Bushtucker Trial.

Now, he either really is not saying anything or he is the victim of the cutting room floor. In other words, he is such poor television he’s being edited out. Quick, do something Lemmy – anything except maybe clean-up the camp, because collecting wood the minute you are given a pass-out from jail only serves to remind people that you are in danger of being demoted from the camp pet to the camp bore. (Just a tip, but there’s no need to draw any more attention to what is becoming a wooden performance. You’re not even getting on anyone’s nerves anymore.)

Even the celebrities looked on in amused bafflement as if to say, ‘Is this the dullest man still in?’

Allowed out of the makeshift prison for the jungle’s version of yard time Lembit set about tidying up the camp and completing jobs, almost whistling while he worked. Let me tell you there’s no Snow White in this setup and Lembit needs to pick up his game – and fast.

Dom Joly and Shaun Ryder, with their own individual take on proceedings, and in particular Gillian McKeith – don’t we all want to kick her Dom Joly-style?– are stealing all the limelight. Fantastic viewing from that pair and Jenny Eclair and her spat with Kayla Collins last night also made for amusing telly.

And when the non-celebrity that is Aggro Santos gets picked for a trial, alongside the current favourite to win Stacey Solomon, you know someone’s missing a trick here.

Fair enough? I doubt it, Lembit.
