Elton John Shrewsbury concert heads for a sell-out
Tuesday 23rd November 2010, 6:00PM GMT.
A concert by Sir Elton John at Shrewsbury Town’s Greenhous Meadow Stadium on June 12 is on course to be a sell-out.
Fans are now being urged to get in quick while tickets are still available, with a further rush of orders expected before Christmas.
Ian Bebbington, commercial operations manager at the club, said: “We are well on course for the concert to be a sell-out.
“We’ve had strong sales of tickets, demand hasn’t tapered off.”

Sheena Easton, The Nolans – why there’s a veritable treasure trove of popular music that could be brought in

Not during Panto season there isn’t (inb4; oh yes there is, oh no there isn’t). They’re all busy for some inexplicable reason.

Yeah, but you could still probably get Bucks Fizz for a night if you’re prepared to make the effort.

And Posh Becks could easily get the bus down from Cheshire to join the others to do a Spice Girls gig as a warm up for Daniel O’Donnell!

Daniel O’Donnell? Steady on, this is Shrewsbury.

I know it’s Shrewsbury but I’m pretty sure that Daniel O’Donnell could find it if given clear directions.
And in any case he could get a lift with David Essex who I understand is appearing as well.

Yes, but don’t you think they’re a bit too rock ‘n’ roll for Shrewsbury?
Yes your’e absolutely right Mark perhaps they are and afterall Shrewsbury isn’t ready for that sort of cultural shock yet.
How about Val Doonican or Roger Whittaker then?
Or even come to think of it Des O’Connor would go down well in Shrewsbury.

Ha ha ha – take the mickey if you want, but you know this council – best to have something safe first that will appeal to a mass audience and make it a success appeasing the local hoteliers and local businesses who will also benefit with 17,000 visitors
If it was a double night of Metallica then the locals would be up in arms about leather cladded fans trawling the streets and of course complaining about the loud noise….

Surely Shrewsbury has missed a trick they could have got Treyc from the X factor to play, she was only in Telford last week turning on the Xmas lights

How about a Status Quo tribute band?
Or if they cant afford that what about Status Quo!

I think we all have to be careful not to offend ‘town fan’.
Lets restrict our suggestions to sensible and realistic ones.
Can I begin with saying that the Truro Ukulele Band were a huge hit at the Swindon Bovril factory canteen last year and so why not bring them to Shrewsbury?
