Police continue to investigate woman’s fall in Shrewsbury

A woman believed to have plummeted from the roof of a Shropshire restaurant actually fell from steps, it emerged today. Police are continuing to investigate what happened during the incident.

The woman, who has not been named, suffered ankle injuries after falling 10ft from steps at Rococo, in Butcher’s Row, Shrewsbury, on Friday night.

Police confirmed today that officers were also investigating reports of an attempted burglary at a business nearby, which was reported at the same time as the woman’s fall.

But as yet no link has been made between the two.

Police are continuing to investigate what happened to the woman after she was initially believed to have fallen from the roof of the building.

She is continuing to receive treatment at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but does not have life-threatening injuries.

Maria Wilkinson, spokeswoman for the police, said: “Police were called to Rococo, in Butcher’s Row, at 8.50pm on Friday following reports of a woman suffering a leg injury in a fall.

“Officers attended the scene and the woman was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with an ankle injury. She had fallen around 10ft from steps at the back of the premises.

“While in attendance at the scene officers received reports of attempted burglary and investigations are continuing.”

Fire and ambulance crews were called and firefighters had to cut through a fence to reach the injured woman.
