Ex-Shropshire postmistress admits £40,000 fraud

Monday 22nd November 2010, 3:40PM GMT.

A 45-year-old Shropshire former subpostmistress has admitted concealing the theft of more than £40,000 from a county post office.

Rubbina Shaheen, of Wood Street, Shrewsbury, was due to stand trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court today after she denied the theft of £43,269.10 belonging to Post Office Ltd between February 1, 2008 and September 3, 2009.

But the court heard an agreement had been reached and Shaheen admitted fraud between February 1, 2008 and September 3, 2009, by dishonestly making false representations on a balances account for Greenfields Post Office.

The case was adjourned for sentencing on December 17 and Shaheen was released on unconditional bail.
