Girl, 12, in hospital after alleged school assault
Wednesday 17th November 2010, 1:56PM GMT.
A 12-year-old girl was in hospital today following an alleged assault at a school in Shropshire.
Staff at the Corbet School, Baschurch, near Shrewsbury, today said CCTV footage of the alleged incident was being viewed.
The girl, who suffered bruising, blurred vision and stomach and back pain, was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital following an incident at the school at lunchtime yesterday. School bosses said an investigation was under way.
Headteacher Philip Adams said: “This sort of thing is very rare and we take it very seriously. We have security camera footage of the incident.”
Inspector Peter Gebbie, of West Mercia Police, said: “There appears to be an element of complexity about the case and the school is carrying out its own investigation.”
