Letter: Thank God Halloween is over

Letter: I suspect I am not the only senior citizen in Shifnal who is glad that Halloween is over.
On that Sunday night some teenagers, I suspect, threw eggs at my bungalow. I didn’t see the eggs until the Monday and it is not easy to remove egg stains from windows and doors.
No good complaining to the police because I did not see the culprits. But I despise this kind of action against pensioners and I’m not sure what kind of pleasure they derive from it.
I put a poster on my gate on the Monday morning with the following printed on it: “To the cowardly idiots who threw eggs at my bungalow. You must have more money than sense. If you throw more eggs I will go straight to the school and your parents”.
No surprise on Tuesday morning to see the poster had been torn off, but I was surprised to see another poster of mine on the tarmac inside the gates.
The poster was one I put up down the Butts warning people not to dump refuse in a field next to the footpath.
I suspect the person who put the poster over the gate was a local resident guilty of dumping refuse. I have told local councillors about people dumping refuse. They should know who the field belongs to by now.
I am considering some form of (non-violent) direct action to stir the council into taking some kind of action after my complaints have fallen on deaf ears for years.

I think this guy is making a rod for his own back, especially if he is doing this on his own he is probably seen as the local busy body.
What this Ray needs is the help and support of the rest of the comunittee if he hasn’t already rubbed people up the wrong way with his posters that is.

Maybe if you have gave some sweets to the treat or treaters then you would have not been egged.
Also, people are not stupid how are you going to know who they are if they egg you again. They would see its annoying you and do it again.

Why should he?? How about if I knocked on your door and said give me a tenner or I will egg you or smack you in the trap .

Or you could just get the times and give a couple of sweets that will cost you about 2 quid for a whole bag for the whole night.
