Letter: Where’s the promised Malinslee play area?
Wednesday 10th November 2010, 6:00AM GMT.
While I welcome new play areas in the borough, I was concerned to read in your paper that our borough leader, Councillor Andrew Eade was able to find funding for a new play area in his ward of Church Aston.
As a mother of young children in Malinslee, can I remind him his administration promised Malinslee families a new play area when our old one was demolished due to building work.
This was over three years ago and we are still waiting.

Hasn’t it always been the case that the money follows the votes?
Just look at what Blair and Brown did when Austin Rover hit the buffers a matter of weeks before an election they threw money at it, yet other equally worthy companies but that had representations by other parties were left whistling in the wind, which I suppose is conveniently forgotten by Mr. Wright.
PS
Don’t try and second guess my political allegiance…..I don’t have one :-)

And as everyone knows, children who live in rural and semi-rural areas do not deserve play facilities, do they?

Start the process with asking your local councillor to investigate (and share your results with the local press) then failing satisfaction there, ask the local MP the same and failing satisfactory results there, actually go to the council and complain. Failing that.. Call or email the local government ombutsman (www.lgo.org.uk) to investigate it.
Do complain to the council and follow the process first. Good Luck.

In this time of cutbacks, people losing jobs and harder times I think, and rightly so, it should be put on hold.
I’m fed up of people moaning at the councils all the time, they are on strict budgets and the money is better spent on social housing, welfare and roads.
If your childrens play time is so important, get out with them and play. I’m fed up of parents that just let their children unsupervised out to do what they want at local parks.
If Malinslee parents want it so badly, why don’t they raise the money.
I saw the state of the last play area in Malinslee and not surprised it hasn’t been replaced.

I know what you mean, Matt. It was not treated with any respect. They destroyed it.

the money would be better spent elsewhere. telford town park is easily within walking distance from malinslee….

Did anyone vote for Ed Balls ? You’d have thought Telfords’ Labour Group would of buried this idea for the unpopularity it creates . Of course the media loves focusing on ludicrous Labour campaigns such as this as it incites conservatives to scorn and socialists to doubt and question their leadership . What about the cut backs ,healthcare ,education, policing and immigration ? What is the real alternative should we cut back or increase taxation to balance the deficit or is it an unavoidable enevitability the country shall have to do both as a result of Browns bankers?
