Businessman’s promise on Lake Vyrnwy sale
Wednesday 10th November 2010, 8:25AM GMT.
The Mid Wales man bidding to buy the Vyrnwy Estate has revealed he will plough sizeable investment funding into the area in the next three years if he is successful.
Rhys Jones, 41, who boss of the Polish property firm, Celtic Property Development, said he was taking on board comments in a survey of residents’ views.
Mr Jones, originally from Bala, said: “We respect the views of the local community and others who have taken a keen interest in working with us. I read the outcome of the survey and the comments and it underlines our approach that working with local people is the only way forward.
“I will be giving assurances of a sizeable investment funding programme in the area over the next three years – over and above the purchase price – if Severn Trent allow us to purchase the estate.”
The bid also has the backing of the HSBC bank.
Alan Jarman, chief executive of HSBC in Poland, who was also born in Mid Wales, said: “Our team in Poland has known Rhys Jones for some time. He will deliver much needed investment to the Vyrnwy Estate, his plans look exciting and what the local area and Wales needs.
“I am aware how much this means to the community.”
Mr Jones said his plans were to make the lake more of a draw.
